The University of North Alabama’s Spencer College of Education and Human Sciences’ Kilby Laboratory School is accepting applications for the position of Lead Teacher, Pre-K Four-Year Class. This position is responsible for instruction and oversight of a four-year-old, preschool classroom program. This position is a lead teacher position in an Alabama Department of Children’s Affairs Office of School Readiness classroom. Specific duties include planning and implementing age-appropriate daily activities for four-year-olds, designing and implementing pre-school curriculum, following the grant guidelines, and maintaining the classroom environment to maintain National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accreditation standards. Successful candidates should have a keen understanding of early childhood education, child growth and development, and current technology skills, as well as the ability to supervise the auxiliary teacher and student workers is also necessary.
*This is a grant-funded position. Employment in this position is contingent upon funding by the sponsored agency. Sponsorship is not available for this position.*
Minimum requirements include:
- Master’s degree in early childhood education is required AND currently hold or be eligible for an Alabama valid professional educator certification in Early Childhood Education (P-3); LETRS training is preferred; Experience with STEM instruction is preferred; OR
- Master’s level Special Education degree in Early Childhood with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework AND
- Currently hold or be eligible for an Alabama valid professional educator certification in Early Childhood Education or Early Childhood Special Education with a minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood/child development coursework.
Official transcripts for the highest degree attained are required of the successful candidate, but unofficial copies will be accepted for the application process. If any of your graduate hours in the relevant teaching discipline are taken from a degree(s) that is not your highest attained, an official transcript of that degree(s) must also be submitted. Electronic copies, if available, of unofficial transcripts may be attached under the attachment headings of Unofficial Transcript 1, Unofficial Transcript 2, etc. Electronic copies of unofficial/official transcripts may also be requested to be sent to employment@una.edu. Official transcripts must be sent directly to HR from the issuing school via email or postal mail to be considered official. Transcripts with a designation of “Issued to Student”, or with the student name listed as the recipient will not be considered official. Official transcripts will be required of the successful candidate prior to the start date of the appointment, but unofficial copies will be accepted for the application process.
