Stacey Hamner Memorial Fund Created to Benefit Women in Business
THE SHOALS, ALA. – The Shoals Area Chamber Foundation presents the Stacey Hamner Memorial Fund, benefitting Women in Business by providing scholarships for students and micro-grants for female entrepreneurs.
Stacey Hamner, founder and owner of Reclaimed Spirit in downtown Florence, was a beloved artist, entrepreneur, and friend in The Shoals, filling every room with her genuine smile. Hamner unexpectedly passed away on December 15, 2021, and though there will always be a large gap in the Women in Business community from her loss, her legacy is even bigger.
The announcement of the Stacey Hamner Memorial Fund was made at the Shoals Chamber’s 2nd Annual Spring Fling on Friday, April 22, 2022. Stacey’s mother and sister were in attendance and were recognized on Stacey’s behalf.
“Creating a ‘women in business’-focused financial opportunity has long been a dream of the Shoals Chamber’s and Stacey was very much a part of those conversations. She helped originate the idea for the Chamber Women in Business Council and we could not think of a more beautiful way to honor her and ensure her impact on the women in business community than to create this fund in her name. As we work to partner with investors who share the same support for supporting women, we hope that everyone will consider giving to this fund to help encourage our younger generation of females to follow their dreams – just like Stacey.” – Olivia Bradford, Director, Communications & Events (Shoals Chamber)
The hope of the Stacey Hamner Memorial Fund is to provide support for Women in Business, young female entrepreneurs, and female students studying business at the University of North Alabama (Stacey’s alma mater). Stacey had a heart for mentorship and encouraged women at every turn; the fund in her honor will do the same. The fund will be overseen by the Shoals Chamber and the Chamber Women in Business Council.
In 2017, The Shoals Chamber of Commerce created the Chamber Women in Business initiative to network, mentor, support, and educate women of The Shoals. The program's purpose is to create a network of support for women-owned businesses and young female professionals in the Shoals area of Alabama.
The Shoals Women in Business Council was formed in 2022, serving as the core team of leaders pouring into the Shoals Women in Business program by providing support, resources, direction, and innovative ideas. The vision of this council is to cultivate an empowering, supportive, and resourceful Women in Business program that serves all women in The Shoals, provides an outlet to foster relationships among local women in business, and create meaningful programming opportunities that allow for education and mentorship.
Donations can be made to the Shoals Area Chamber Foundation RE: Stacey Hamner Memorial Fund. All donations are tax-deductible as the Shoals Area Chamber Foundation is a 501(c)3 organization.
