Shoals Community Clinic to Host Annual Spring Women's Health Fair
Florence, AL - The Shoals Community Clinic is proud to announce its annual Spring Women's Health Fair, taking place on April 20 and April 24. This important community event is designed to support women's health by providing free cancer screenings and access to vital preventative care services.
Women over the age of 40 who qualify will be eligible to receive free screenings for breast and cervical cancer. In addition to screenings, comprehensive follow-up care and treatment for any abnormal findings will be provided by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals through the Alabama Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (ABCCEDP).
The Shoals Community Clinic has been a trusted partner of the ABCCEDP since 2007. This program, funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), delivers critical preventative health services to women across the state and has served more than 150,000 women in Alabama since its inception.
This year, the clinic is also collaborating with Operation Wipe Out, an innovative initiative launched by the Alabama Department of Public Health. The program's mission is to eliminate cervical cancer by 2033 by increasing awareness of the human papillomavirus (HPV), which causes the disease, and improving access to vaccination, screening, follow-up care, and treatment.
"We are committed to ensuring that women in our community have access to lifesaving screenings and education," said Amanda Hitt, a Nurse Practitioner of the Shoals Community Clinic. "Events like this health fair play a critical role in early detection and prevention."
Women interested in participating are encouraged to call the clinic to determine eligibility and schedule an appointment.
