Renaissance Shoals Resort & Spa Celebrates 1 Millionth Occupied Room
Florence, Ala. – Renaissance Shoals Resort & Spa, formerly known as Marriott Shoals Hotel & Spa, has reached an exciting new milestone: the check-in of its 1 millionth occupied guest room.
On Tuesday, September 23; a surprised and delighted guest walked through the doors of the resort to be greeted by cheers, confetti, and a celebration recognizing them as the 1 millionth check-in since the resort opened in 2005.
“We’ve been tracking this for months and anticipated it would happen sometime in September,” said Larry Bowser, General Manager of Renaissance Shoals. “Our front desk ambassadors were thrilled to welcome Wendy Peek, and her daughters, and announce the milestone with a special gift and confetti covering the lobby. It was a memorable moment for the guest and our entire team.”
Peek and her daughters were in the Shoals for a tour at UNA. “What an incredible honor and surprise to find out we are the one millionth occupied room at this lovely resort! We are thrilled to start our trip in such an amazing way,” said Peek.
Since opening its doors in 2005, Renaissance Shoals has earned recognition as one of the top-ranked Marriott properties in North America for guest satisfaction. Bowser credits the resort’s success to the Retirement Systems of Alabama’s support and dedication of the hotel’s 273 team ambassadors.
“The recent completion of our full renovation, along with our rebranding from Marriott Shoals to Renaissance Shoals, has strengthened our presence and elevated the guest experience,” Bowser said. “We’re proud of the hotel’s role in shaping the community and helping establish the Shoals as a true destination. Since our opening in 2005, 12 new hotels have been built, and last year alone tourism generated more than $450 million for the two counties. According to the State Tourism Department, cumulative tourism impact for the Shoals has reached $5.7 billion since 2004. To date, we’ve paid over $125 million in wages, served 4.2 million meals, and invested $1.7 million in local musicians through our commitment to live music seven nights a week at Swampers Bar & Grille.”
Over the past 20 years, tourism and business development in the Shoals have grown exponentially. New attractions, hotels, and businesses have emerged, reinforcing the area’s appeal as a destination. The establishment of the Tourism Improvement District has further fueled local marketing and development efforts.
The recent announcement of Reverb by Hard Rock and other forthcoming projects is a testament to the dynamic role Renaissance Shoals is shaping tourism in the area.
