JOB TITLE: WOODWORKER
REPORTS TO: CONVERSION MANAGER
Functions as a Woodworker and set up, operate, and tend all types of woodworking machines,
such as saws, drill presses, shapers, routers, sanders, planers, and wood-fastening machines.
Operators set up the equipment, cut and shape wooden parts, and verify dimensions, using a
template, caliper, or ruler.
Woodworkers typically do the following:
? Able to comprehend simple shop drawings
? Prepare and set up machines and tooling for woodwork manufacturing
? Operate woodworking machines, including saws, milling, shapers, and sanding
machines and understand measuring devices.
? Router and blade identification
? Able to listen for unusual sounds or detect excessive vibration in machinery
? Able to read manufacturers’ product information for proper installation
? Select and adjust the proper cutting, boring, and sanding tools for completing a job
? Use hand tools to trim pieces or assemble products
? Lumber size identification
1. High School graduate or equivalent
2. At least one-year experience preferred.
3. Basic woodworking knowledge
4. Basic hand tool knowledge for woodworking assemblies
5. Ownership of basic hand tools and battery-operated drill/screw gun
Physical activity includes, but is not limited to walking, bending, lifting, and carrying, reaching,
pushing, pulling, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing and repetitive motions resulting in medium
strength work. Minimal risk involved working in a well-ventilated, lighted and temperature
controlled environment. Able to lift at least 75 pounds on an occasional basis.
