Part-Time: ~10 hours per week
Overview: The Youth Director oversees and coordinates all aspects of the First Presbyterian Church Florence youth ministry.
Description of Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a schedule of weekly meetings and monthly events for the youth ministry
- Coordinate, promote, implement, and further develop a quality Christian Education for Children and Youth to include Sunday School, after-school, and weeknight activities including, but not limited to:
- Fat Tuesday
- Canned Food/Diaper Drive
- Summer Gatherings
- VBS
- Parent’s Night Out
- Fall Festival/Trunk or Treat
- Christmas Program
- Meet monthly with the Christian Education Committee
- Organize and obtain volunteer participation.
- Participate in all staff events, weekly staff meetings, and scheduled meetings with the pastor.
- Meet with the Personnel Committee and with personal liaison as needed.
- Regularly communicate with parents through scheduled meetings, phone calls, emails, text messages, GroupMe, etc.
- Recruit Sunday school teachers and volunteers for youth ministry.
- Evaluate age-appropriate curriculum, program materials, equipment, supplies, and space for youth ministry.
- Maintain 3rd-floor areas to provide adequate learning space for youth ministry.
- Actively recruit children, youth, and young families through church-supported activities and programs in the community
- Develop a Youth Ministry strategic plan that supports the mission and vision of First Presbyterian Church
- Communicate and work with staff to promote and publish all activities through newsletters, bulletins, church calendar, and social media as needed.
- Participate with other Christian ministry professionals in the community as opportunities arise that fit within the church’s purpose and ministry vision.
- Maintains the safety policy and background check requirements for all youth ministry volunteers.
