DAY PROGRAM - DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL (DSP)

As a Day Program DSP you will be responsible for assisting and providing learning skills, self-direction, receptive and expressive language, etc. to adults in the classrooms and on community experiences. 
Hours:  8:45a.m. - 2:15p.m., Monday - Friday.  Up to 28 hours per week.                                                       

The DSP is responsible for but not limited to:

  • Participating, planning, coordinating, organizing, developing and directing activities in classrooms settings and community learning experiences
  • Assuring that an on-going program of activities is designed to meet participants' needs as in accordance to the individuals' physical, mental, and psychological well-being
  • The ability to demonstrate and welcome enhancement in problem solving skills and ability to develop conceptual alternatives
  • The ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing activities practices
  • Accept recommendations and directions from others in leadership and co-worker capacities
  • Computer and social media friendliness (Zoom, setup, etc.)
MINIMUN REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma/GED required; some college courses/credits preferred
  • Driver License with good record - Must be 21 years of age for insurance guidelines.  Passing the following screenings according to the guidelines set forth by Alabama Department of Mental Health, Medicaid and The Arc of the Shoals
  • Screening:  MVR (driver), Criminal Background (felons can't be employed); Drug and TB
