Community Care Hospice, partner hospice of Shoals Home Healthcare and Mitchell Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehab Center is a new, dynamic and growing hospice in the Shoals area. Our hospice has experienced significant growth in census and quality in the last year. CCH is locally-operated with an emphasis on providing evidenced-based and comprehensive hospice care

Community Care Hospice is currently searching for a Hospice Volunteer Coordinator. This is a part-time, flexible position with opportunity to grow with the company. The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is an essential member of the Interdisciplinary Team. The ideal candidate is fun, outgoing, organized and willing to network in the community.


  • Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment program.
  • Develop and implement the volunteer training and orientation program.
  • Ensures sufficient numbers of volunteers to meet the needs of the patients and families.
  • Coordinates the utilization of volunteers with other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide volunteers with assignments. If the assignment is with a patient, the Volunteer Coordinator reviews the Volunteer Plan of Care with the Volunteer before they make a patient visit.
  • Provides ongoing support, supervision and evaluation of volunteers
  • Provide supervision to volunteers, this includes periodic supervisory visits, volunteer performance evaluations; ensuring time sheets and visit notes are completed and submitted per policy; reviewing of volunteer visit notes to ensure the plan of care is being followed.
  • Maintain volunteer personnel files.
  • Attend IDG meetings.
  • Participate in QAPI activities.
  • Maintain monthly statistics regarding the volunteer program including services of volunteers, the type of service and the time worked.
  • Take an active role in providing, reviewing and revising written volunteer policies and procedures with the IDG.
  • Maintain line of communication with Volunteers. (ie. Keep volunteers informed of IDG meetings, in-services and training opportunities, notification of changes in patient status affecting visits, etc.)
  • Assume responsibility for self-development by continually striving to improve his/her practice through formal education, attendance at workshops and conferences, active participation in professional and related organizational meetings, and individual research and reading.
