Process Technician

PROJECTXYZ has a rare opening for a Process Technician in our manufacturing area where we provide prototype molds and parts to major OEM companies using world-class equipment and leading-edge technologies through stereolithography, selective laser sintering, vacuum casting, and other specialized processes.

Equipment and leading-edge technologies the company uses to provide molds and parts to major OEM companies include stereolithography, selective laser sintering, vacuum casting, and other specialized processes.

Purpose of Position:

The Injection Molding Technician sets up and maintains injection molding machines to ensure optimum operating efficiency. The role also provides support to the execution of the production/try out schedule and applies knowledge of molding machine setup and operating techniques.

Duties and Responsibilities (Essential):

  • Reads operating logs to identify inoperative injection machines, determines reasons for machine malfunctions, and arranges for machine repair.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product, and suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop.
  • Reviews time and production records.
  • Start all mold changes and verifies machine is running at standard cycle time and is producing product at the same level as indicated by the previous runs first and last shot.
  • Report to Supervisor any difficulties or problems requiring special attention.
  • Responsible for the accurate completion of process verification, tool reports and mistake proofing check sheets as required.
  • Ensure the quality of the product meets current standards as defined by the first and last shot.
  • Must ensure that the molding machine and all auxiliary equipment are operating safely and efficiently.
  • Set-up and start-up of molding machine, auxiliary equipment, tooling as specified on the set-up master.
  • Ensuring processes are running within the tolerances of the setup master.
  • Notifying the supervisor of any processes outside of tolerances specified or nonconforming processes.
  • Documenting all set-up changes outside the tolerances of the set-up master.
  • Verifying color feeders are set to set up master and products produced meet quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot machine, mold and material problems.
  • Ensures proper care of all equipment especially managing the proper disposal and recording of all purging’s.
  • Maintains adherence to company policies, safety/ergonomic standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Adhering to all relevant Safety Procedures: lock-out/tag-out, equipment inspection, etc.
  • Must maintain 5S housekeeping requirements.
  • A Fostering an incident- free atmosphere by following EHS guidelines and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)

Minimum Requirements

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • A good basic understanding of the injection molding process
  • Well-developed mechanical/technical abilities
  • Must be eager to learn and attend training courses.
  • The position also requires that the successful candidate be in good physical condition, with the ability to climb into tight places, underneath machines and on top of machines.
  • They will need to be a very quality-conscious team member, and be dedicated to working in a neat, organized and efficient manner.

Climate Controlled Manufacturing Facility

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED Required
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in plastics processing preferred.
  • Must be experienced in mold set-ups, trouble shooting, and exposure to maintenance problems.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.
  • Prior experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Must possess the skills and knowledge of creative problem solving and be detail oriented.

  • Walking, stooping, bending and climbing.
  • Push/pull up to 300 lbs. with or without assistance.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance
