Job Description

Manager – Process Improvement Manager is responsible for leading the efforts targeted to reduce the total cost of quality and compliance with established industry standards, government regulations, and customer requirements, and provides overall quality leadership to the plant by driving continuous improvement efforts by using established quality tools. This position will also manage and continuously improve effective Environmental Health & Safety Programs to maintain a safe and healthy work environment and to comply with all local, state and federal regulations. This position has impact on sales, profit margin, customer satisfaction, quality costs and customer complaints. Role and Responsibilities

· Develops and implements strategies to support and enhance quality requirements.

· Regularly reports Key Performance Indicators to track quality; uses data to develop strategies to make measurable improvements.

· Proactively interfaces with production and customer support to identify and/or anticipate needs and expectations to ensure they are understood and satisfied.

· Monitors various sources of quality performance opportunities including product design, manufacturing, warranty reports, Quality Problem Reports (QPR’s), Daily Inspection Reports (DIR’s) and other sources of quality indicators.

· Works closely with all departments to resolve quality issues and facilitate or execute communications to respective internal and external parties.

· Works with Customer Support to utilize customer data and develop corrective/preventative action processes related to customer issues; may include on-site customer visits.

· Ensures all ongoing regulatory testing (for example 99 testing) is accomplished, results are monitored, and corrective actions are completed to maintain compliance to requirements.

· Obtains customer feedback by visiting customers and summarizing findings in actionable items.

· Provides expertise in the implementation and utilization of process improvement too and methods to relevant functions of the organization to support company-wide process improvement activities.

· Stays current with best practices and leading-edge technologies, methods, tools and procedures in the fields of quality assurance and continuous improvement to proactively address changes in existing processes.

· Leads the internal audit program and manages corrective actions in conjunction with the management review process.

· Manages direct reports, as applicable, including establishing performance objectives and development plans.

· Sets clear expectations, provides clear feedback, coaches and provides coaching to team members according to established procedures.

· Ensures a safe, equitable and respectful environment for all team members.

· Develop and maintain an EHS Management System. This includes implementation of environmental/ safety programs, administration of the program, and management of the audit program.

· Hazardous waste Management- Ensures that all hazardous waste are managed in accordance applicable state and federal regulations. This includes profiling of waste, proper storage, marking and labeling for hazardous waste and satellite storage, inspection, manifesting and shipping. Additionally, it is Process Improvement Manager’s responsibility to ensure that the waste are shipped to approved disposal sites and training is provided to the appropriate employees as specified in the regulations. Collects data and prepares biennial hazardous waste reports.

· Air Compliance- Manages the environmental database used to create monthly air compliance reports. Provides training to associates to communicate proper procedures for bringing new chemicals into the facility. Collects data, performs engineering calculations in preparation for monthly and annual air report and prepares the reports.

· Industrial wastewater management-Acts as liaison for the facility and communicates and coordinates all compliance activities with local and state officials. Prepares permits. May conduct special studies to determine efficiency and effectiveness. This may include testing and analysis. Monitors wastewater activities to maintain compliance. Troubleshooting problems related to maintain compliance.

· Healthy, safety, and Environmental Programs- manage and maintain programs as required by OSHA. Provides training to associates as required. Diver a zero incident culture. Acts as liaison between facility and OSHA agency representatives. Manages and facilitates safety program to include monthly information and audit program. Identifies and facilitates facility modifications to maintain compliance with OSHA requirements.

· Behavioral Based Safety/ Zero incident Culture- Leads culture shift to proactive identification of potential hazards and instill a culture where everyone is looking out for each other. Deploys and leads by example a behavioral based culture.

· SARA- Collects data performs engineering calculations to prepare and submit tier ll and form R reporting. Prepares and submits supplier notification information annually.

· EHS Auditor- Conducts audits of all owned facilities. Prepares reports based on finding and makes recommendations. Presents Findings to management at facilities audited.

· Special Projects- Performs functions of project manager and may include other responsibilities to get the job done (research and development, testing, monitoring, contract development and award). Assists other owned locations.

· Ensure required safety training is executed. Conduct training or provide for training as appropriate. Maintain the OSHA annual training and developing questionnaires.

· Lead development and executive of annual safety Business Improvement planning.

· Corporate safety contact responsibilities:

· Prepare the plant for annual safety audits.

· Reporting monthly plant safety metrics (OSHA logs), including tracking monthly hours worked.

· Manage fire extinguisher inspections and fire department walk-throughs.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, technical or other related discipline.

· At least five years of experience in manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, product engineering or quality assurance.

· Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance, continuous improvement methods, and environmental health processes, approaches and tools, including project management.

· Demonstrated leadership, communication training, facilitation and interpersonal skills are required to effectively perform essential functions.

· Operationally functional with Word, Excel, Outlook and related functionally specific software.

· Requires fluency in English, fluency in Spanish is a plus. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, standards and governmental regulations. Must be able to document complaints and solutions, and effectively communicate verbally and in writing and to team members, peers, management and customers.

Preferred Skills and Credentials

· Problem solving skills and ingenuity to operate the facility with minimal resources.

· Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate via phone or email with a culturally diverse and physically remote associate population.

· Completed training in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Project Management, Quality Management Systems (i.e., ISO 9000, QS9000, etc.).

· Recommended credentials include: ASQ Certified Quality Manager, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, and/or ASQ Certified Quality Auditor.

· Knowledge of multiple manufacturing industrial sectors is helpful.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift objects up to 25 lbs. with or without assistance.

Must be able to communicate using speech, sight, and sound with or without assistive device.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
