NEW PRODUCT SAMPLE SEWER / SEAMSTRESS

SUMMARY
Growing company seeks experienced individual to assemble initial sewn goods samples. Experience with industrial sewing equipment is required, as well as a working knowledge of patterns and measurements, as well as order of construction.  The work involves a large variety of fabrics, designs, and products and there is an endless challenge with new and novel ideas!  We offer flexible hours and competitive pay. Very willing to work with someone who has industrial cut and sew experience to help them apply their skills to the apparel manufacturing trade.
 
NATURE OF JOB
Position often requires cutting, trimming, sewing product samples according to the company or client’s demand.
 
BASIC TASKS
·     Construct a garment from cut piece to finish, with or without a sewn example.
·     Recognize all parts of a garment and assemble correctly with the highest quality.
·     Possess an understanding of fusing/interfacing techniques.
·     Correctly apply closures (zippers, buttons, etc.).
·     Possess the ability to use all types of industrial sewing machines (5 thread, 4thread, single needle, buttonhole, etc.) And have a willingness to learn new machinery.
·     Recommend and advise changes/corrections to improve or modify for production on initial or prototype samples.
·     Document and assist in entering steps of construction in the order from start to finish, noting machinery used, seam allowances, etc. Into company database.
·     Communicate to the product development team any pattern or construction concerns from the initial exposure to the product through completion. 
·     Works with development team and production personnel seamlessly on new products as well as current products if areas in need of quality improvement or consistency are found.
  
SKILLS AND COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS
·     Knowledge in sewing, both hand and machine methods.
·     Knowledge and ability on different types of stitching and assembly processes, and ability to use applicable machinery.
·     Knowledge in different types of garments and fabrics and finishes.
·     Knowledge and ability to sew and assemble a variety of products and adapt and be flexible as needed.
·     Knowledge of fashion design is a plus.
·     Communicates well, both written and orally.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • HS diploma or GED equivalent
  • General knowledge of manufacturing practices and principles
  • Must have at least 3-5 years’ experience as an assembler or tailor
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Associates work in a temperature-controlled apparel factory and office setting.
 
HOURS
  • Monday – Friday 
  • Full-time (7am-3:30pm)
  • Ability to work overtime if required and/or during the busy season.
  • Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule
