Essential Job Functions
Training and Technical Assistance

Develops and delivers technical assistance and training to business and industry clients, with emphasis on Industrial Maintenance Technology – Mechanical Engineering.

Leads and facilitates training and implementation of Industrial Maintenance Technology – Mechanical Engineering programs and services.

Delivers in-person training and facilitation, including standing and presenting for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per day).
Project Delivery and Client Support
-
Executes assigned projects, delivering technical services in alignment with ATN standards, timelines, and client requirements.

Travels throughout the state of Alabama to deliver and support client projects. Frequent overnight and regular day travel are required. Approved travel is reimbursed.

Prepares reports, statistical data, and documentation to evaluate training effectiveness and client impact.

Works independently with minimal supervision, exercising sound professional judgment in planning and executing assigned responsibilities.
Collaboration and Relationship Development

Collaborates with ATN team members and Alabama Community College System partners to support coordinated project delivery and statewide initiatives.

Develops and maintains professional relationships with prospective and existing clients to support engagement, retention, and program success.

Administrative and Organizational Responsibilities

Submits required documentation and reports to the Team Director and/or Central Office in a timely manner.

Participates in Industrial Maintenance Technology Team activities and serves on ATN committees as assigned.

Assists in the development and implementation of team product lines, operational improvements, and strategic initiatives.

Utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, including NetSuite, to accurately record time, project activity, and expenses in accordance with ATN requirements.

Adheres to ATN ISO Quality Management System policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
Business Development and Client Engagement

Coordinates with the Business Development Office to promote ATN services with civic, professional, technical, and industrial organizations.

Assists with client relationship development and engagement efforts.
-
Works with clients to complete satisfaction and impact surveys.
Professional and Organizational Participation
-
Collaborates effectively with host college personnel and ATN staff statewide.
-
Maintains required professional credentials and participates in relevant professional organizations, meetings, and conferences.

Maintains the ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years of full-time professional experience in manufacturing or a related industry with a focus on industrial maintenance technology/mechanical engineering.
- Demonstrated experience applying industrial maintenance/mechanical engineering tools and methodologies in a manufacturing environment, such as: mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical maintenance.
- Experience with project management and the delivery of technical training in manufacturing or a related industry.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Understanding of electrical engineering principals used in manufacturing.
- Experience or working knowledge in one or more of ATN’s service delivery areas, such as: Environmental Health & Safety, Continual Improvement, Engineering / Technical Services, Leadership & Management Development, and Agribusiness & Food Service.
- Experience in business development, marketing, sales, or public relations, particularly in a technical or industrial services environment.
Supplemental Information
This position is based in Central Alabama. Applicants must reside in or be willing to work from the Central Alabama region. The selected candidate will be assigned to an Alabama Training Network (ATN) office location within Central Alabama, based on their place of residence and proximity to an existing ATN office.
While the assigned office will be in Central Alabama, the position requires travel throughout the state of Alabama to deliver training and support ATN projects. The employee is required to report in person to their designated office unless traveling for approved ATN business-related purposes.
Salary: Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Training Network Salary Schedule, T-3 ($66,411 – $108,987) and will be determined based on the selected candidate’s education and years of applicable experience. Paid monthly.
