ATN Project Engineer - Quality Management Systems/Quality Engineering Statewide Position

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

 

In addition to adhering to the policies and procedures as specified by the Alabama Technology Network, the host college, and the Alabama Community College System, duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develops and implements technical assistance and training for business and industry, heavily focused on manufacturing companies, particularly in the area of Quality Systems/Quality Engineering. 
  • Deliver projects as assigned. 
  • Trains/facilitates all aspects of and leads implementation of Quality Systems and Quality Engineering as part of project work.
  • Travel to deliver and/or assist with Team projects as needed throughout the state of Alabama. Frequent overnight travel required (approved travel reimbursed.) Travel is required. 
  • Prepares reports, statistical data, and general information for use in evaluating effectiveness of quality programs implemented for clients. 
  • Submits documentation and reports to Director and/or Central Office as requested.
  • Collaborates on projects and activities with other ATN staff and Alabama Community College System. 
  • Participates in all Continual Improvement Team activities and on ATN committees as requested.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with prospective and existing clients.
  • Works with clients to complete client satisfaction and impact surveys. 
  • Participates in the formulation and implementation of Team product line, operations, and strategic planning initiatives. 
  • Promotes ATN within civic, professional, technical, and industrial organizations and other agencies.
  • Collaborates and communicates with employees of the host college. 
  • Utilizes Enterprise Planning Resources (ERP), NetSuite, to record time and expenses in a timely manner.
  • Adheres to ATN ISO Quality Management System and National Institute of Standards and Technology/Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NIST/MEP) guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintains professional credentials and participates in meetings and conference of relevant professional organizations as required.
  • Assists Business Development office with relationship development. 
  • Participates on committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend hours. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance. 

 

Education and Experience

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical area from a accredited institution.
  • At least five (5) years full-time work experience in manufacturing or related industry in the area of Quality/Continual Improvement. 
  • Work experience in successful applications of quality engineering tools (e.g., PPAP, APQP, DOE, FMEA, SPC, MSA, or 6 Sigma) in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Experience with Quality System implementation and management (e.g., ISO9001, IATF16949, AS9100). 
  • Experience with project management and delivery of training a manufacturing or related industry.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with various software programs including Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.

 Note: a minimum of eight (8) years full-time quality/continual improvement work experience in industry or manufacturing may be accepted in lieu of Bachelor’s degree. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience/knowledge with one or more of ATN’s service delivery specialties: Industrial Maintenance Technology, Lean Enterprise, Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering/Technical Services, Leadership & Management Development, or Food Industry. 
  • Experience in business development, marketing, sales, or public relations.

 

Supplemental Information

 

Salary: Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Technology Network’s Salary Schedule T-3 ($66,411 - $108,987).

This is a state-wide job search. The selected candidate will be assigned to an ATN office location based on their proximity to an existing ATN office location designated by the Executive Director. The employee will be required to report to work in-person to that designated office when not traveling for ATN-related business.
