ATN Business Development Specialist II
The Business Development Specialist II develops relationships with prospective manufacturing clients and markets the products and services of CONNEX Alabama and ATN; works to increase market penetration and impacts through the implementation of supplier development products and services including CONNEX Alabama supplier connection platform, related event programming, and resources; assists ATN management in maintaining relationships with existing clients and strengthening partnerships with civic, professional, technical, and industrial organizations.
CONNEX™ Alabama is an online SaaS platform that connects all Alabama manufacturers and suppliers into a single searchable solution. It allows manufacturers, suppliers, and buyers to quickly post and respond to needs, visualize supply chain risk, search for qualified manufacturers, and discover new business opportunities.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the development and continued growth of the Connex Alabama online supplier capabilities database and connection platform. Assist manufacturing companies in understanding the value provided by the platform.
- Outbound research to potential manufacturing customers via in-person visits, phone calls, email, and events in order to develop the CONNEX Alabama database relationships.
- Uncovering and understanding manufacturing customer pains and challenges; explaining how ATN can address those business challenges.
- Events. Assist Supplier Development Manager with supplier opportunity forums, business-to-business matching events, supplier scouting opportunities and connections that can support supply/demand matches.
- Assist Supplier Development Manager with outreach and awareness training and assistance to state trade associations, economic development groups, local chambers of commerce and others as identified to promote and educate organizations about ATN, CONNEX Alabama, and supply chain services and resources.
- Travel throughout the state of Alabama is required and may entail overnight stays (approved travel is reimbursed).
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Maintains working relationships with existing clients to identify potential new sales opportunities. Proactively seeks new business opportunities with potential clients.
- Assists clients and potential clients with identifying various kinds of state and federal assistance for training and services.
- Active networking of contacts and relationships, along with working well in various arenas, particularly in manufacturing.
- Promotes ATN within civic, professional, technical, and industrial organizations and other agencies.
- Represents ATN, utilizes display booth and ATN materials at trade shows, professional association conferences, career fairs, etc. including transportation of material, set up and tear down.
- Assists in preparation and submission of reports as required.
- Completes success stories on activities with industries as required.
- Participates on committees as assigned.
- Adheres to ATN ISO Quality Management System and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) guidelines and procedures.
- Maintains professional credentials and participates in relevant professional organizations as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- The employee will be expected to work a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend hours.
Education and Experience
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, or related field.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in business development, sales, marketing, public relations, or related field.
- Experience in public speaking.
- Excellent computer skills and experience with various software programs including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
NOTE: A minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in business development, sales, marketing, or related field may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Desired Qualifications:
- Strong communication skills and proven ability to educate stakeholders on CONNEX Alabama and effectively express the value it offers.
- Experience in business administration, or related field.
- Supply Chain experience and/or digital media experience.
- Experience with sales management software and CRM.
- Experience working with manufacturing industry sectors.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and professional.
Supplemental Information
Salary: Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Technology Network’s 2023-2024 Salary Schedule T-3 ($65,109 - $106,850) to be determined by the applicant's education and years of applicable experience.
