Description
The Business Development Associate builds relationships with prospective clients, markets ATN’s products and services, and works to increase market penetration through identifying new business opportunities and supporting marketing and outreach initiatives. The Business Development Associate supports the Alabama Technology Network (ATN) in promoting its services to manufacturing and industrial clients throughout Alabama.
This position will be based in North Alabama and will operate from one of the following ATN offices: Cullman, Bevill State Community College, Gadsden State Community College, Jefferson State Community College, or Northeast Alabama Community College and Northwest Shoals Community College. Final office assignment will be determined based on candidate proximity and organizational need.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
In addition to adhering to the policies and procedures as specified by the Alabama Technology Network, the host college, and the Alabama Community College System, duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assist Business Development Manager with outreach and awareness training and assistance to state trade associations, economic development groups, local chambers of commerce and others as identified to promote and educate organizations about ATN and supply chain services and resources.
Travel throughout the state of Alabama is required and may entail overnight stays (approved travel is reimbursed).
Travel is required.
The employee will be expected to work a regular work schedule which may include occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours.
Assist with maintaining relationships with existing clients and identifying potential sales opportunities.
Support outreach to prospective clients to promote ATN’s services and identify potential sales opportunities.
Uncovers and understands manufacturing customer pains and challenges; explaining how ATN can address those business challenges.
Assists clients and prospective clients with identifying various state and federal assistance for training and services.
Help prepare and deliver presentations, promotional materials, and client proposals.
Participates in collaborative business meetings to update key stakeholders.
Collaborates and communicates with employees of the host college and within associate’s area.
Participate in marketing activities, including trade shows, conferences, career fairs, and webinars.

Manage customer relationships, track sales, and enhance communication with clients using CRM software.
Completes success stories on activities with industries as required.
Adheres to ATN guidelines and procedures.
Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing and technical staff, to support business development efforts.
Utilizes Enterprise Planning Resource system, NetSuite, to record time and expenses.

EDUCATON AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, public relations, or a related field from an accredited institution.
NOTE: A minimum of five (5) years proven related experience ay be accepted in lieu of degree.
Experience in public speaking.
Excellent computer skills and experience with various software programs including Microsoft Office Suite and Office 365. Must have experience with PowerPoint.
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, planning, and attention to detail.
Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and professional.
Ability to travel throughout Alabama, including occasional overnight stays.

Desired Qualifications:
Experienced in using CRM software to manage customer relationships, track sales, and improve communication with clients.
Strong communication skills and proven ability to educate stakeholders about ATN services.
Experience with manufacturing or industrial clients.
Experience in business development, sales, or marketing.
Experience in workforce development and/or economic development.
Supplemental Information

Salary:
Compensation is in accordance with the Alabama Technology Network’s 2024-2025 Salary Schedule T-4($55,537 - $98,113) to be determined by the applicant’s education and years of applicable experience.
This position will be based in North Alabama and will operate from one of the following ATN offices: Cullman, Bevill State Community College(Sumiton), Gadsden State Community College(Gadsden), Jefferson State Community College (Birmingham), Northeast Alabama Community College (Rainsville), or Northwest Shoals Community College (Muscle Shoals). Final office assignment will be determined based on candidate proximity and organizational need.
