Many past participants say, this is by far, the best, most useful professional development they have ever done!
During the Classroom 2 Careers program, educator-participants will tour local businesses & industry, see first-hand how technical skills are used in the workplace. They will hear from business leaders about their workforce needs and how educators play an important role in developing the future workforce. They will also learn about the immediate and growing need for a highly skilled, intelligent, critical thinking workforce both in the Shoals and beyond.
Teachers hear from their students all the time, "Why do I need to know this?" and "When will I ever use this again?" C2C helps answer those nagging questions and gives teachers and counselors a much broader view of jobs within the context of their communities and the skills and knowledge needed for the workforce. They will have work-based examples of how the academics and soft skills they teach (responsibility, pride in your work, timeliness, etc.) will be used in real jobs students can relate to – jobs educators may not even know exist in their community.
