DESCRIPTION:United Way of Northwest Alabama would love to invite you to the 6th Annual Girlfriend Gala. \n\nWe took a year off\, but we're bringing it back and shaking things up!\n\nThis year's event will take place at Pickett Place in downtown Florence and light hors d'oeuvres will be provided by Sweet Basil Cafe. This event is a great opportunity to spend quality time with your girlfriends while supporting a great cause. There will be cocktails\, shopping\, music by DJ Nate Slaughter\, and most importantly\, you'll be supporting a fabulous cause.\n\nAll funds raised at this year's Girlfriend Gala will be used to enroll local children in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. A program that provides enrolled children with a FREE book every month until they turn five years old.\n\n\n\nIn 2017\, Alabama ranked #47 in the country in education. It is our goal to improve that number. By encouraging early childhood literacy\, our hope is that our education rank improves\, which will in turn increase opportunities\, quality of life and financial stability\, thereby decreasing the number of those living beneath the poverty line. A lofty goal\, but attainable if we all work together!
