Celebrate with the W.C. Handy 40th Annual Music Festival!

W.C. Handy Fest is a beloved annual tradition in North Alabama. A ten-day-long series of music-related events all over the Shoals, Handy Fest began 40 years ago to honor William Christopher Handy and the musical legacy of the "Hit Recording Capital of the World."
William Christopher, (W.C.), was an internationally recognized composer of sacred and secular music and is known as the "Father of the Blues." W.C. was the first to codify Blues music, translating it to written form. Today, the Handy Home and Museum can be found on College Street in Florence, Alabama, at Handy's birthplace.
Originally designed to support and promote local businesses, Handy Fest continues to help the local economy thrive by driving traffic to a variety of venues and retailers through a series of events that are hosted all across the Shoals.
During Handy Fest, attendees can find live performances from entertainers of all genres, community activities, and so much more! Handy Fest events also take place that center around teaching music appreciation and highlighting the musical heritage of the Shoals.

At the Chamber, we are proud to join in the celebration of our musical heritage and W.C. Handy's legacy! This year, we're co-hosting our very own Handy Fest event with the Shoals EDA, sponsored by Taco Mama and Singin' River Brewing Co.
Join us on July 30th at Singin' River Brewery for "Rhythm and Brews!" At the event, guests can indulge in a taco bar, drink specials, and enjoy live entertainment brought to you by DJ Zillion and Pop Culture Trivia Challenge!
