Firehouse Subs is one of the newest sub sandwich restaurants in The Shoals, but it has quickly become a favorite for Shoals locals.

Firehouse Subs offers a wide variety of sandwiches ranging from the popular Sweet and Spicy Meatball to the classic favorite Smoked Turkey Breast. Along with sandwiches, the restaurant provides salads, chips, mac and cheese, chili, and potato soup. To top it off, they even have delectable brownies and cookies!

Though the menu can speak for itself, our favorite thing about Firehouse Subs is the way they invest in local communities - like ours. Known as the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, a portion of proceeds from the restaurant is earmarked specifically to benefit local first responder units. 

Founded in 2005 by Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has granted more than $60 million to provide equipment, training, and support to hometown heroes and first responders. The foundation has five different funding areas, including lifesaving equipment, prevention education, scholarships and continued education, disaster relief, and support for members of the military.

Through these funding areas, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is able to supply first responders with brand new equipment, provide prevention education tools to the public about the importance of public safety to prevent disasters in the home and community, issue financial resources to individuals pursuing a career in public safety, and give assistance during and after natural or man-made disasters like fires, tornados, or hurricanes.

Additionally, the foundation works to provide assistance for the men and women who have served their country in any branch of the United States Uniformed Services.

“Our subs save lives” is one of the Firehouse Subs mottos and a true mantra they can hang their hats on each day. Their capacity to equip local communities when destruction strikes proves that despite a terrorist attack or a pandemic, it is vitally important to protect, value, and honor all first responders. 

Firehouse Subs has locations in 46 different states, so even if you're outside The Shoals, you can support our local heroes by purchasing a (mind you - delicious) sandwich.
