Let’s Taco Bout It Over Lunch – Taco Mama Keeps Florence Funky

When it comes to fast casual dining, let’s “taco” bout the newest, coolest place to eat fresh tex-mex without crossing the border. Taco Mama, located across from Singin’ River Brewing Company at 121 Cherry Street in Florence, offers up tacos, burritos, nachos and more in a funky, laid back taqueria style.

After opening its doors to an excited throng of Shoals residents, Taco Mama has seen steady attendance during both lunch and dinner hours.

Recently, I tried out their lunch menu with a former colleague of mine. As a purist, I had to try the tacos first. Not sure what to choose for your first visit? Not to worry. Taco Mama lets you mix and match so you can try out more than one of their signature tacos.

On my first trip, I opted for a surf and turf style lunch. The Cheezy Beef filled with barbacoa (braised beef) and other fixings, paired well with the Justice is Served that’s packed with grilled flounder, ancho chile slaw, avocado, and roasted poblano tartar.

I can attest, two tacos were more than filling, particularly at lunch time, but even so, you also get chips and salsa and a fresh side to go along with your choice. I had the straight from the avocado tree guacamole, but have heard from friends that the honey chipotle corn is a unique, flavor that sweetly complements several menu items.

Not a taco connoisseur? Mama has you covered! Although I find it difficult for anyone to not like a good taco, this unique gem of Florence offers up great burritos, nachos, and quesadilla options. And if you’re low carbing it, you can build your own bowl of tasty goodness without the guilt.

Thirsty? Taco Mama has an extensive margarita menu, with simple, fresh ingredients they hand shake to wake the flavor in every glass, or pitcher if you have friends to join you.

I know sometimes it’s hard to get away from the office. During these unfortunate circumstances, let Taco Mama bring the fiesta to you! If you have a large crowd meeting offsite, be sure to check out their catering options to pep up your office meeting or make those attendees super happy they showed up to celebrate with you at your next big party.
According to Taco Mama’s team, “…great food, great margaritas, like-minded people, funky atmosphere, and supporting our friends and communities is what Taco Mama is all about. It’s all about the guest experience, and we love turning guests into friends, making them happy, and seeing that line out the door. It’s our passion.”

After three visits SO FAR to Taco Mama (hey, I have to try out the product before I write about it), I’d say this passion for people rings true. The staff always has a smile on their faces and are genuinely happy to see you walk through their doors with that hungry look in your eyes.

Don’t you think it’s time for a little taco in your life? Get your fill at Taco Mama, opened 7 days a week, because every day should be a taco day. Don’t forget to check out their extensive menu here to give your taste buds a little teaser before arriving!
